Name a better partnership than Donkeeboy and Donkeemom. You can’t, can you?
On Wednesday, July 14, the artistic mother-son duo will unveil a new mural downtown called “Bike Through H-Town.” Promoting the importance of getting outside and exploring the city by hopping on a bike, the mural was painted with Bosch eBike Systems, which makes the bikes in Houston’s ride-share system, B-Cycle.
This mural is part of a greater initiative by Bosch to promote cycling in a city where driving is usually the name of the game, but biking can be a large part of getting active.
“We’re excited to partner with Bosch and GreenStreet to promote the ‘Bike Through H-Town’ initiative,” said Donkeeboy, a.k.a. Alex Román Jr, in a statement. “Houston is such a bikeable city, and cycling is a healthy and sustainable way to get around it.”
A celebratory bike ride following the unveiling will begin at 7:30 p.m.. Participants will begin the race at GreenStreet, 1201 Main St., the location of the unveiling. Riders will ride about six miles through Buffalo Bayou Park to Riel in Montrose.
This event is free and open to the public. Red Bull will provide refreshments and Riel, a bistro that provides globally inspired shared plates, will provide several light bites and cocktails.
