Houstonians are not throwing away their shot at seeing the revolutionary musical, Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda's cultural phenomenon that has swept the world since 2015.

Today, BBVA Compass Broadway at the Hobby Center announced its 2017/2018 season, including Miranda's Tony Award sweeping musical, which will run in Houston from April 24 through May 20, 2018.

In case you've been living under a rock, Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of founding father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary. Blending hip-hop, blues, rap and R&B, Hamilton truly captures the American spirit, regardless of the era.

Other stellar acts coming to town include Jimmy Buffett's production Escape to Margaritaville (Oct 31–Nov 5), Gloria Estefan-inspired musical On Your Feet! (Nov 21–26) and Tony Award winner The Color Purple (Jan 9–14).

“We are so thrilled to be bringing Hamilton to Houston,” says Fran Macferran, President of the Hobby Center Foundation, in a statement. “The theater scene is on fire these days with so many incredible stories and performances to present. We are delighted to bring the best in live entertainment to our enthusiastic and supportive Houston audiences.”

Dates for individual ticket sales will be announced later this year. Audiences can guarantee tickets by purchasing season passes. From $210. broadwayatthehobbycenter.com
