Just when you thought it wasn't possible, River Oaks District managed to get a bit more boujee. Houston's preferred luxury shopping destination for visiting celebrities has partnered with local stylist Stevie Bingham to take all the legwork out of finding the perfect outfit.
Bingham's new role as the designated stylist and personal shopper for ROD customers is part of the district's expanded services at "The Studio," a private, luxury lounge where all the (complimentary) magic will go down on-site. It's as simple as booking an appointment with Bingham, answering a questionnaire, and showing up. The Studio's private entrance near iPic Theater includes a reserved parking spot directly outside—a huge draw, as anyone who's braved the Galleria can attest.
It's that start-to-finish convenience Bingham believes will appeal to ROD shoppers, from busy professionals with no time to search for a gala ensemble to high-profile clients who want to be discreet.
"A lot of it too, I think, is people think they have to get dressed up to get treated well. You avoid that. If my clients want to come and see me in workout clothes, great. I'm particularly not pretentious that way," Bingham says. "There can be a stigma with some of the luxury retailers, but [this] kind of cuts through that. I'm the liaison."
That's a role Bingham has experience playing. The daughter of a former Houston Oiler, Bingham is a Bayou City native with a lengthy resume in the industry: She owned her own contemporary women's boutique here for eight years before working as a stylist for other luxury department stores. When ROD sought her services for The Studio, "I thought it was an interesting concept," Bingham says. "I thought this was a neat experience for me to get out of the Galleria and bring my clients to a very unique luxury shopping environment."
Before they see Bingham, clients answer questions about sizing, colors, style icons, likes, and dislikes—she likes to see pictures, too. Then, she'll pull from ROD tenants—which range from Dolce and Gabbana to Intermix—and set everything up in The Studio. "[Appointments] can vary from full wardrobing to special occasions, if they need an outfit for an event," Bingham says. Her favorite stores and labels in the district include Dior, Cartier, Brunello Cucinelli, and Tom Ford.
Though she loves The Studio space, Bingham will also accommodate virtual appointments. "If someone doesn't want to come in, we can FaceTime and have items couriered to them that day," she says. "It's better than Amazon. Nothing can beat same-day."
As if that weren't enough, The Studio is also offering complimentary alterations from an in-house tailor, "which is a huge deal," Bingham adds. "It's a one-stop shop."
"Expanding the personal shopping and styling services at River Oaks District is essential to helping our guests access the season's latest trends and help them find their unique style," ROD marketing manager Jennifer Rivera says.
