You could make a Saturday out of beer events in Houston, starting with Holler's Fresh Hoptoberfest and finishing with Brash's pretty heavy anniversary party. Remember: Always hydrate.

Happy birthday, Brash.

News & Events

Brash is celebrating four years in the only way it knows how: music and beer. Saturday's party, which starts at noon at the brewery, includes performances by Goatwhore, Necrofier, and Merkava. The event includes vendors, merchandise, and special beer to consume and purchase. You must be at least 21 to enjoy, and you must have a ticket to enter ($15). Chairs allowed. Empty coolers allowed. Water necessary. Consider a ride-share.

On Saturday, Holler is hosting Fresh Hoptoberfest, a collaboration festival featuring four beers made with a bunch of local breweries (including Sigma, Platypus, True Anomaly, Astral, Urban South, 11 Below, and Eureka Heights). Event runs 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a can release and souvenir glass available.

This weekend is the last one of Karbachtoberfest. Live music Friday from a Beatles tribute band, and Saturday from FlowerGraves, Night Beats and Levitation Room. Sunday includes championships in a number of competitions.

Beer Releases

Enjoy this video teasing the impending arrival of Saint Arnold Pumpkinator 2019.

This month, look for the 2019 version of Buffalo Bayou Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Great Heights is bringing back its double-dry-hopped Mosaic and Motueka hazy IPA called The Whammer. Look for it in the taproom starting Oct. 11.

New-ish at True Anomaly: Halo 22. This white IPA has Citra, Cascade, and Centennial hops, plus wheat, and comes in at 7.4 percent ABV.

Here's something fun: Ingenious has teamed up with the makers of the movie Zombieland 2 in creating a pastry stout called Tallahassee Twinkie Stout. This 10 percent ABV beer is conditioned on, well, Twinkies. Also new is Smarty Snowball, a 6.7 percent ABV Berliner weisse conditioned on coconut, marshmallows, vanilla beans, and pink dragonfruit.

Two new beers at B-52. One is Gold Bricks #4: 18-month maple rum barrel stout and 18-month ex-bourbon peach brandy barrel stout and 28-hour boil stout conditioned on Mexican vanilla beans (that seems like a lot of work). The second is Gorgeous Ladies of B52, a glitter rose sangria super-fruited imperial sour made to mark Women's Health Month. The beer's name is a nod to the TV series GLOW, and the same goes for the label, which shows a woman's butt in a wrestling singlet. One has to wonder why that was the image the brewery went with, and also why the beer's ingredients are aggressively stereotypical.
