After a little more than a year, La Vista 101 has shuttered, according to owner Greg Gordon via Facebook.

Owner Greg Gordon's announcement on Facebook.

The restaurant, which opened its doors in May 2018 inside a former Pizza Hut on 18th Street in Lazybrook/Timbergrove, was billed as a modernized and relocated reboot of Gordon's popular La Vista, the Briargrove Italian spot that kept the lights on for more than 20 years. La Vista 101 boasted a few budding stars, namely executive chef J.D. Woodward, who was coming in from Southern Goods, and general manager Jeb Stuart, who worked for a time at Coltivare.

But La Vista 101 had an early shake-up, as both Woodward and Stuart announced in July 2018 that they were leaving the restaurant. Gordon assumed control of the kitchen at that point. In his Facebook post, Gordon claimed he could "no longer keep doors open" after a year "trying to survive."

Woodard has reappeared as the executive chef at 1751 Sea & Bar, under Sambrooks Management Company.

We're reaching out for more information about the closing of La Vista 101 and will update shortly.
