Mokara Spa is located inside the Omni Houston Hotel in Uptown.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in work, relationships, routines, and life in general, and forget to reward ourselves with time to rest and recharge. Despite how hectic life gets, self-care should always be a necessity. Going on a walk in the park, practicing mindfulness, and journaling are all free ways to care for yourself. But if you’re looking for something more extravagant, a trip to the spa may be in order. Consider visiting any of these Houston-area day spas or massage parlors for prime pampering and much-needed you time.

Bare Necessities

Tanglewood & Upper Kirby

Bare Necessities is like a one-stop shop for all your skin care needs. It offers a wide range of facials, with options for additional lip, eye, lash, and brow treatments. It also offers spray tanning and waxing services for your bikini line, eyebrows, back, toes, and everywhere in between. Bonus: New clients receive half off any one service or treatment and returning clients receive 25 percent off any med spa treatment.

The Spa, an in-house spa at Four Seasons Hotel Houston, creates a serene space to unwind and recover.

The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Houston

Downtown

With over 50 treatments, the spa experience offers something for any preference. Indulge in the signature Southern Scrub and Sip, a full-body treatment that begins with a bourbon–brown sugar scrub scented with gingersnap-pecan followed by an aloe milk bath, and ends with a glass of limited-batch Garrison Brothers single-barrel, cask-strength bourbon. Want something a little less flashy? Try reflexology, where a massage therapist focuses on pressure points within your hands and feet to promote stress relief and smooth out your energy flow. Visit the accompanying fitness center on Saturday mornings, when at 9:30am, the spa hosts a complimentary yoga session and wellness shots. Call to book your reservations.

Gangnam Spa

Addicks / Park Ten

This traditional Korean spa is all about having a holistic experience, offering both co-ed and gender-specific facilities. Sure, there are signature massages, facials, and body scrubs, but the most unique thing about this spa is the sheer breadth of amenities. Take advantage of the Bul-Ga-Ma hot rooms, 20 individual topaz caves, O2 lounge, a foot spa (think a hot tub just for your feet), or the igloo ice room. The gender-separated location offers dry and steam saunas, showers, and both hot and cold baths to melt your stress away. Plan to spend the whole day here.

Hammam Spa

Greater Uptown

Looking for a cultural reset rather than a standard spa day? Hammam Spa invites Houstonians into a Moroccan-inspired bathing ritual centered on heat, exfoliation, and intentional care, all delivered in a quiet, private setting. The experience layers steam with black soap cleansing and a vigorous kessa mitt scrub, finished with argan oil to leave skin feeling noticeably smoother and lighter. Though communal bathhouses are common in Morocco, Hammam offers individual rooms for couples or small groups, easing newcomers into the ritual without losing its roots. Beyond the hammam, guests can book facials, sugar waxing, and massages—and linger a little longer with Moroccan mint tea before stepping back into the day.

Hiatus Spa

Tanglewood

Go beyond skin deep at Hiatus Spa. Its services include the usual suspects—body massages, skin care, and waxing—but Hiatus is also a certified med spa, offering Botox, fillers, lip-plumping, microneedling, and other dermatologist-grade treatments. Hiatus has locations in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Frisco, Plano, and San Antonio, meaning you can visit them during travels or vacations across Texas. Become a member for $89 a month, and enjoy a monthly massage plus discounted service perks.

The Luxurious Massage and Spa

Spring

It’s right in the name: services here are all aimed at helping you unwind and de-stress in luxury. Choose the Tension Blowout, a deep-tissue massage designed to eliminate knots and chronic pain, or the Ritual Rebirth, a signature massage intended to reduce anxiety, soreness, and muscle tension. Pro-tip: Book the 120-minute Glamour body treatment to give yourself a glow from head to toe as they exfoliate all your dead skin away with a honey-lemon sugar scrub.

Milk + Honey

Upper Kirby

With locations across the country, this chain is the true definition of a day spa. Start off your morning with a wax, followed by a massage and facial. Move into the salon for a haircut or mani-pedi, and cap it all off with lash extensions. Milk + Honey also offers med spa services like fillers, injectables, laser skin treatments, microneedling, and more.

Mokara Spa and Salon at Omni Houston Hotel

West Oaks

Come to Mokara Spa to refresh your mind, body, and spirit. It offers a menu of signature body treatments in addition to hair and nail services plus a rotating selection of specials. Book the Balance Escape Ritual treatment and recenter yourself with shea butter, salt, and sugar exfoliation plus a CBD body wrap.

Located in a converted home in the Heights, this wellness destination offers treatments customized to your individual needs. The estheticians will blast oxygen directly into your pores, treat your skin with berry enzymes, and calm your busy mind with one of its many massage treatment options.

Oasis Massage

Chinatown

If you're spa-ing on a budget and massage is the goal, head to Oasis in Dun Huang Plaza. The massage parlor features two locations, each offering a bevy of reasonably priced massages that will leave you feeling restored (full-body massages run $60 for 60 minutes, $90 for 90 minutes). For complete relaxation, try the 90-minute Oasis Massage, which features a 30-minute reflexology foot massage with a warm soaking and light shoulder and head massage, followed by a 60-minute full-body deep tissue or Swedish massage. While booking appointments ahead of time is recommended for busy days, Oasis often offers massages without an appointment. Pro-tip: Dun Huang Plaza is filled with plenty of food options, so make a day of it, and cap off your massage by visiting a nearby spot for a soothing bowl of ramen or hotpot.

Best of all: Spa World realizes that relaxation comes in all different forms. There are sleeping rooms for those who need to take a nap, a theater for those who want to unwind with some Netflix, conference rooms for those who need to get work done, and a cafeteria if you get hungry. Additional perks cost extra, and range from massages to a Korean scrub, karaoke rooms to an indoor TopGolf bay. If you've got kids: This is one of the few spas that allow children. Kids under 11 are not allowed to use the spa or sauna areas, but they are allowed to check in to the indoor playground, Kids World, for $10–15 for two hours depending on the day.
