This Winter, Make a Cheap Date at Alamo Drafthouse

A $5 movie ticket and an inexpensive late-night menu are just a few of the presents Alamo Drafthouse has in store this season.

You'll shoot your eye out, kid!

Look, we know how it is in December: you're spending all your money on Christmas presents and unnecessary holiday decorations at Kirkland's, a store you never go into the rest of the year but can't pass up at the mall because did you see those giant red bows with lights on them? We need a dozen for the house. And when you're done spending money, wrapping presents, and hanging out with the family, you may find yourself craving some mindless entertainment—the kind that's easy on the wallet and comes with junk food to fuel your parabolic arch through December and into January.

Alamo Drafthouse has heard your call and has a holiday line-up sure to please any movie-going member of the family. Along with a full line-up of quote-along Christmas movies from Home Alone (including all-you-can-eat pizza) to Elf (including a spaghetti-eating contest), the cinema chain is also offering $5 admission to any movie—yes, even the first-run movies—past 10 p.m. every night. Along with this cheap ticket, treat yourself to cheap treats from its brand-new late-night menu. Dishes include Frito pies, chips and salsa, fried egg BLTs, freshly-baked cookies, and even a shot-and-a-beer combo that should get you through at least the first half of Exodus.

In addition to the regular quote-alongs, the Alamo Drafthouse at Vintage Park is hosting two special quote-along screenings with fashion designer Chloe Dao and Saint Arnold Brewery founder Brock Wagner, both of whom will be presenting their favorite holiday movies.

Dao's is A Christmas Story, which she'll present tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m., with all proceeds from ticket sales going to benefit United Against Human Trafficking. Wagner's is Animal House, perhaps a less obvious but no less valid Christmas choice, which he'll be presenting on December 18 at 8 p.m. Proceeds from those ticket sales will go to benefit BARC Animal Shelter (and we encourage additional donations through the purchasing of Saint Arnold's Ale Wagger beer at the cinema, which also helps fund local animal rescue charities).

If you miss these quote-alongs, look for others throughout the month including National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation on December 7 at the Mason Park location and December 13 and 18 at the Vintage Park location, Die Hard on December 6 at Vintage Park and December 19 at Mason Park, and Scrooged on December 6 at Mason Park and December 12 at Vintage Park. Quote-alongs just not your speed? Then get your friends, kids, or friends' kids together for a morning Cartoon Cereal Party: Christmas Edition at Vintage Park, this Saturday, December 13 at 10:30 a.m. Wear your own pajamas, but don't worry about the rest; all-you-can-eat cereal will be provided.
