Last weekend marked the opening of The Texas Aesthetic IX at the William Reaves Fine Art Gallery that celebrates 15 traditional Texas painters. The series, which has been running for nine years, is now a Houston tradition. The works on view—watercolors, pastels, acrylics, landscapes, portraits, still life and more—span the Panhandle to our lovely southern coast, depicting towering mesa mountains, rolling green hills with flowering cactus and grazing cattle. Local painters with works on view include Charles Ford, Debbie Stevens and Lee Jamison. The show’s up through June 20.
While guests are welcome to stop by and stroll at their own leisure during gallery hours (Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), there will also be special Meet the Artist Talks every week. Last weekend marked the first one, but there are still four to go.
