This Friday, meet Smithsonian-featured artist and longtime UH art instructor exhibit his latest collection, Black and White with Gray and Color at Nicole Longnecker Gallery, showcasing new two-dimensional paintings inspired by an unlikely subject: kites. “For me, it suggests a playful form dancing across the visual space," says Newsum. "It’s a symbol of resilience, as the kite soars against the sky and is able to confront the turbulence of life."
