Rachmaninoff's The Bells

Based on an Edgar Allan Poe poem of the same name, Rachmaninoff's The Bells makes full use of the Houston Symphony's all-volunteer chorus. You can still expect nothing less than perfection from the corps of hardworking hobbyists; Charles Ives's Symphony No. 4, Gershwin's I Got Rhythm variations, and more fill out the program.

Comicpalooza
May 10–12 | George R. Brown Convention Center
Already the state's largest and most anticipated pop culture convention, this year's edition packs heavy hitters from two of the most rabid fandoms: Game of Thrones (Emilia Clark, Nathalie Emmanuel) and Star Trek (Wilson Cruz, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn). Get there early if you want a chance at communing with the Mother of Dragons—although be warned that photo ops start at $195.
