On Sunday, December 8, parents and children were treated to a VIP experience at the widely anticipated performance of Elf—The Musical brought you by Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS). Hosted by Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, the special “Behind The Curtain” event featured pre-show family friendly fun starring Buddy the Elf himself. Activities included snow stations, a winter-themed arts and crafts table, and a snowman bean bag toss game. Between activities and during the pre-Elf luncheon, guests were able to mix and mingle with some of the pediatric subspecialty physicians affiliated with Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

The lunch hour, which took place in an ornate winter wonderland on the stage in Zilkha Theatre, highlighted the Pediatric Cleft Lip & Palate Patient Story of Luke Combs, and was led by standout pediatric specialists, Dr. Matt Grieves, Chief of Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. Grieves educated guests on his experience treating Luke and detailed how his team specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of children with congenital or acquired cleft and craniofacial deformities.

The event was co-hosted by event chairs Shannon Addison, Amanda Boffone, Elizabeth Dwyer, Stephanie Fleck, Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS), and Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, with honorary chairs Christine Falgout, Melissa Juneau, and Rachel Regan.
