Anyone can walk into a drugstore and buy a $10 “luxe” face mask or go online and order a pack of fancy bath bombs, but why do that when you can go to the Houstonian’s Trellis Spa?

After the past year (seriously, did 2020 ever really end?), we all need dedicated time to relax, rejuvenate, and reenergize. Trellis Spa, which recently reopened after a year-long multimillion-dollar renovation, is making it easier than ever with grand spaces, specialized treatments, and the addition of their brand-new soaking pools and garden. Your only job is to sit back, get pampered, and enjoy a bite or two of their famous shortbread cookies.

Once you’ve checked in and gotten a tour of the newly revamped facility—now the largest luxury spa in Texas—it’s time to bask in Trellis’s ultra-plush robes and let the relaxation begin.

Forgo your cellphone and unplug in the expanded Tranquility Room. Now twice the size, it is the perfect place to unwind with dim lights and sumptuous loungers.

For those who would rather experience the therapeutic effects of water, the soaking pools and garden are the place to be. The easy-to-use water circuit starts in the spa’s locker rooms with a quick shower before going outdoors. Based on historic bathing cultures, the sun-drenched soaking pools and garden—flanked by beautiful landscaping, art by renowned artist Casey Parlette, and comfortable cabanas—allow guests to spend time in each area to maximize the scientifically backed health and restorative benefits of hydrotherapy.

If you can tear yourself away from the hydrotherapy experience, try the Gharieni MLX i3 Dome and PLT device. Trellis Spa is the only spa in the United States to have these unique treatments. Considered the “Rolls Royce” of spa equipment, the MXL i3 Dome and PLT device are no-touch therapies that work with infrared light to help you detox and rejuvenate.

The MXL i3 Dome looks like a slimmer MRI machine that you can slide into. With only your head visible outside the machine and the heat turned on, you are transported into a personal sauna where sweat and detoxification are the prime objectives for the next 25–50 minutes. The PLT device is an add-on service used with the MXL Dome that promotes facial rejuvenation through negative ion therapy. Choose from three infrared light colors, each with distinct therapeutic properties.

After your detox, nothing adds to a relaxing day more than a delicious meal and glass of wine. The spa now has indoor and outdoor dining areas where you can enjoy fresh cuisine from TRIBUTE restaurant’s executive chef Neal Cox. The upstairs dining room boasts treetop views of the wooded property and a casual atmosphere.
