While J.J. Watt unfortunately will not play on Super Bowl Sunday, he will make a small-screen appearance that weekend when he hosts the Feb. 1 episode of NBC's Saturday Night Live.

The Texans defensive end is no stranger to acting. He's played himself in both FX's The League and New Girl on Fox and popped up in the 2016 films Bad Moms and Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk

Watt is the first athlete to host the sketch comedy show since Charles Barkley's appearance in March 2018. Other NFL players who have hosted the show over the years include Joe Montana, Walter Payton, Tom Brady and the Manning brothers.

A three-time Defensive Player of the Year's episode will also feature musical guest Luke Combs, who plays at the Toyota Center in April.

SNL returns from its winter hiatus on Jan. 25 with actor Adam Driver as host and Halsey as musical guest.
