Art Colony Association Draws Up New Art Talk Series

Remember that old TV program Inside the Actor’s Studio? Well, the Art Colony Association is taking viewers inside the artwork with Art Talk, a new virtual happy hour series. The best part? Unlike with that James Lipton talk show, there will be cocktails.
From now through mid-October, the organizers of the annual Bayou City Art Festival (which unfortunately took a Covid-related hit in 2020) will livestream one-on-one chats with different artists, who will share insights into their creative process, inspirations, and artistic impact during an interactive conversation with virtual audiences. And they’re starting the series off with a burst of color on Aug 20 with pioneering Houston street artist Gonzo247 as the special guest.
Other guests in the series include pixilation specialist Jennifer Lashbrook, painter Amanda Bennet, multi-disciplinary creative Tony Paraná, and graffiti artist Alex “Donkeeboy” Roman Jr. Art Talk happy hours will also feature everything from art trivia to live demonstrations and auctions. Plus, every episode will feature a different, original cocktail created by that week’s guest artist—they don’t call it a happy hour for nothin’, ya’ll.
So, mix up your most colorful cocktail, and prepare to get your art on.
Various Thursdays thru Oct 15. Free. Bayou City Art Festival’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. More info at artcolonyassociation.org. See the full schedule of happy hours below.
