Hey, Hou sir. yes, you sir, you’re in a for a treat. An experience’s coming that cannot be beat. You see, Dr. Seuss’s book world is coming alive, and you’ll be able to visit with just a short drive.
Opening May 15 at the George R. Brown Convention Center and staying through most of the summer, the Dr. Seuss Experience reimagines nine of the author’s most famous and beloved children’s books, including The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who!, and The Lorax as a series of interactive rooms.
If you’ve ever wanted to explore a forest of Truffula trees, spin around on an If I Ran the Circus-themed carousel, or check out a completely assembled Throm-dim-bu-lator—no, we still don’t know what it does, but we’re sure it couldn’t be greater—now’s your chance.
A collaboration between Dr. Seuss Enterprises and entertainment company Kilburn Live, this one-of-a-kind 15,000 square-foot Seussary (that’s sensory and Seuss combined, fyi) spectacle made a splash when it opened in Toronto in 2019, becoming the stuff of Instagram dreams, before the pandemic preemptively shut it down and delayed its North American tour.
“The Dr. Seuss Experience is needed now, more than ever, to reignite the magic of physical play and let children’s imaginations run wild,” Kilburn Live CEO Mark Manuel said in a statement, reported by the Houston Chronicle.
So, fill your pockets with wockets and slip socks on your fox. We’ve got a gut feeling this exhibition will rock.
