Buckle up, candy lovers, 'cause everyone’s favorite confectionary wonderland is bringing the sugar rush back to the Bayou City. Candytopia makes its glorious, chocolate-filed return on July 2 in CityCentre. Sure, you’ll have to drive a bit farther this time around, but those colossal candy constructions and the marshmallow pit make the trip worth it.
“Since our last visit in 2019 we have had a constant stream of requests to return,” said John Goodman (alas, not the actor), CEO of Youtopia Entertainment, in a statement. “We believe guests will be more thrilled than ever with our updated Candytopia.”
The sweet-toothed phantasmagoria, which first arrived in Houston in 2019 and is only here for a limited time, features more than a dozen rooms and 20,000 square feet of full-sensory, interactive art installations, according to a press release. Just don’t plan to take a bite out of those candy-fied recreations of Starry Night or The Thinker—everything’s sealed to preserve those sweets, plus it’d be rude. Don’t worry though, folks, you’ll have plenty of candy samples to pick up along the way.
Houston’s location (there’re also pop-ups in Philly and Atlanta) is part of a multi-city tour and will include “the most popular attractions from past locations along with new and captivating elements,” per the release. Last time round, highlights included a fire-breathing dragon sculpture, an oversized Astros hat, and an artfully elegant jellybean portrait of Beyoncé … as if we’d expect anything less from the likeness of Queen Bey.
Whatever’s in this Wonka Factory-esque explosion of deliciousness this time, we’re sure it’ll be a feast for the eyes. And your Instagram feed.
Opening July 2. 822 Town and Country Blvd. From $20 (tickets, which go on sale soon, must be bought in advance).. More info and tickets at candytopia.com.
