There’s power in community, and that’s what San Francisco-area LGBTQ+ literary arts press Foglifter is trying to build with its The Queer Home CookOUT Tour, which will make its Houston stop at Axelrad on July 20.

The tour promotes Foglifter’s anthology Home is Where You Queer Your Heart, which brings together queer and trans poets, essayists, storytellers, and artists to tell stories of chosen family and community.

Tuesday’s event will feature readings from the anthology’s Houston-based contributing writers, including Farrah Fang, who was featured in Remezcla’s “40 Emerging, Texas-based Artists to Know”; The Violence Almanac author Miah Jeffra; Jackson Neal, who was featured by Button Poetry; poet Joy Priest, author of 2020’s Horsepower; Stephanie Saint Sanchez; and Houston Community College professor Addie Tsai.

Blue Willow Bookshop will be onsite to sell copies of Home is Where You Queer Your Heart ($22.95).
