The soup is delivered to the table piping hot in a heated stone bowl with rice and a raw egg on the side. There are several heat levels to choose from—my wife gets it extra spicy. You can add meat, seafood or vegetables.

The noodles in this soup are soft white cubes of fresh tofu—sundubu in Korean—or "soon tofu" in English. The contrast between the bland squishy tofu cubes and the spicy broth makes for a fascinating bowl of soup.
