Make It a Chicken and Waffles Weekend
Pecan Creek Grille is one of those charming restaurants where, despite its strip center locale, it feels like family from the moment you walk in—a sense helped along by the fact that owner Brock Silverstein, who owns the restaurant with his wife Stacy, is usually at the register greeting customers as if they were his own family members.

Growing up, my mother always put in extra effort on the weekends, cooking special breakfasts that often included treats we wouldn't get during the week—flaky buttermilk biscuits or Belgian waffles from scratch were two such favorites. Pecan Creek Grille is no different, offering weekend specials that are enticing enough to make my 30-minute drive out to the Energy Corridor worthwhile.
One such special is Pecan Creek Grille's version of chicken and waffles, which is only served on Saturday and Sunday. Instead of chicken wings—as you would normally expect—you'll get a tender chicken breast in a crispy black pepper batter. And instead of your typical maple syrup (which, to be fair, is available in the self-serve area in a carafe that keeps it nice and hot), Pecan Creek Grille tops its chicken and waffles with a sweet, creamy molasses sauce.
At least two other things merit a drive out to Pecan Creek Grille for breakfast, both of which complement the chicken and waffles nicely: luxuriously fluffy jalapeño-cheese grits (which I always order as a side) and bottomless Southern pecan coffee (which you can refill yourself at your leisure in the same self-serve area that also provides that hot maple syrup).
Pecan Creek Grille also offers lunch, with a variety of plate lunches during the week that change daily and the same welcoming, homey feel that makes breakfasts so inviting.
