El Big Bad + Karbach = An Over the Top Beer Dinner

Two of our local favorites are partnering up for one big, bad beer dinner.

September 17, 2014

El Big Bad is one of Houstonia's favorite Tex-Mex restaurants and Karbach Brewing Co. is one of our favorite local craft breweries, so it only makes sense that we were excited to hear the two are partnering up for a big, bad beer dinner on September 22 at 7:30 p.m.

The so-called Over the Top Beer Dinner will pair chef Jonathan Jones's modern Mexican cuisine with some of Karbach's best brews (including a couple of seasonal favorites)—but that's not all El Big Bad has up its sleeve. Before dinner even gets started that Monday night, guests will be treated to an appetizer spread of El Big Bad's two most popular salsas and its silky pumpkin seed hummus (a.k.a. sikil pak) paired with a special Weisse Versa and Hersbrucker Hop-infused tequila prepared specially for the dinner.

But don't fill up on chips and salsa; there are still four more courses to come:

  • 1st course: Gulf fish ceviche with watermelon-ginger leche de tigre paired with Weekend Warrior Pale Ale
  • 2nd course: carnitas enchiladas with spiced pork, peanut-chipotle salsa, Texas jaimito cheese, pickled onions and carrots, and queso fresco paired with Karbachtoberfest
  • 3rd course: cabrito compuestos (slow-roasted Black Hill Ranch goat, mole, and salsa Tlaquepaque) with house-made tortillas and escabeche paired with El Hopadillo Negro Black Ale
  • 4th course: capriotada de calabaza (white chocolate and pumpkin bread pudding with cinnamon gelato) paired with Krunkin’ Pumpkin

The cost for this feast is only $50 per person (exclusive of tax and tip)—a bargain for anyone who claims El Big Bad's food is too expensive. Space is limited, so reserve your spot today by calling 713-229-8181.
