Everything old is new again at Harold's, née Heights General Store. The restaurant housed on the second floor of what was once Harold's—the historic men's clothing store on 19th Street that closed in 2011 after 61 years in business—is now sporting the old store's old name. "We are going through a bit of a re-branding because Heights General Store was too confusing for most," said owner Alli Jarrett, who opened Heights General Store in late 2013. Jarrett noted that it's only the upstairs restaurant portion of the two-level building that's changing.

The downstairs portion—the actual general store itself—has retained the name Heights General Store, where neighborhood residents can still purchase local produce, local meats, local cheeses, pantry stockers, kitchen items, and other food-related goods. Downstairs is also where you'll find the more casual Alli's Pizzaria, serving salads, sandwiches, and made-from-scratch pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven.

Upstairs at Harold's, chef Antoine Ware's menu remains intact. That means you can still find his shrimp creole tamales, jambalaya boudin balls, shrimp and grits, and other modern Cajun dishes that made Heights General Store (er...Harold's) a natural pick as one of Houstonia's best new restaurants of 2014.
