Taco Cabana Is Giving Away Free Tacos Today

What's better than a chicken fajita taco at Taco Cabana? A free chicken fajita taco.
Today is apparently National Taco Day. Yes, we know—every day is Taco Day in Houston, but today is the only Taco Day where Taco Cabana is giving away one free taco per customer.
In celebration of its month-long fundraiser, Taco Treat, the Tex-Mex chain is giving away one free chicken fajita taco per dine-in customer from 5 to 8 p.m. at all of the roughly two dozen Taco Cabanas in the greater Houston area. No purchase or coupon is required to get your free taco, though Taco Cabana hopes that while you're there you'll consider purchasing its $1 coupon books; they're good for five bean and cheese tacos, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Warrior and Family Support Center—after all, that's what its Taco Treat fundraiser is all about.
The Warrior and Family Support Center works with seriously wounded US veterans and their families during treatment, recovery and rehabilitation at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio to provide them with emotional support as well as family staples including diapers, formula and food. The WFSC even puts on special summer and winter camps for the children of wounded vets. And for this year's Taco Treat fundraiser, the $1 books also include a bonus coupon from Coca-Cola good for one free 20-oz. drink with the purchase of any item; this means the value of the coupon books is $7 in return for the $1 donation to WFSC.
"The WFSC is near and dear to our hearts at Taco Cabana, given the immense number of US military stationed in Texas and across the region that we proudly serve each day," says Taco Cabana COO Todd Coerver. "Since the fundraiser’s inception in 2010, we’ve raised more than $300,000 and with the help of our partner Coca-Cola, we hope for the best year yet."
