Who knows Naan and Samosas better than the queen of the kitchen herself? We asked head chef and owner Kiran Verma of Kiran's where she goes to get her favorite Indian food around Houston. Here's what she had to say:

Favorite Dosa | Madras Pavilion

"I like to have South Indian food on my days off, so I go to Madras Pavilion and get pampered with their hot masala dosa."

16260 Kensington Dr., Sugar Land. 281-491-3672

Favorite Dhokla | Swaminarayan Mandir

"The shop/cafe at the temple makes the best dhokla. It is spongy and very light, and a great snack to have after visiting the temple. It's also gluten-free."

1150 Brand Ln., Stafford. 281-765-2277

Favorite Pakora | Raja Sweets

"Mixed vegetable pakoras from Raja Sweets are spicy and crunchy—and a filling snack while shopping on Hillcroft."

Favorite Saag Paneer | Bombay Brasserie

"It's rich and creamy—the way Americans like their saag paneer."

Favorite Biryani | Kiran's

"I have to recommend home—Kiran's! This one-pot meal is my go-to at the end of a long day. With English cucumber raita and mango chutney, it hits the spot and nourishes the soul."

2925 Richmond Ave. 713-960-8472

Favorite Indian-Fusion Dessert | Pondicheri

Chocolate burfi. "I just went to the Bake Lab for the first time, and this dessert was crunchy, buttery, nutty and perfectly balanced with the chocolate."
