There's no better time than a Tuesday morning for some burger news.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar is about to open in CityCentre. The popular Austin-based chain, which already has three locations in Houston (Rice Village, River Oaks, Vintage Park), is unveiling its next Bayou City spot at 798 Sorella Court, Suite 199, on October 8.

This will be the 28th location of the quick-service chain that specializes in gourmet burgers, fries made from Kennebec potatoes, and creamy milkshakes. When the CityCentre location opens, look for the au jus burger, an entry in the restaurant's "Brew Series," which "emphasizes its synergy between burgers and beer," according to a release. The series pairs the burger with Saint Arnold Brewing Company beverages.

And then there's In-N-Out Burger, the popular California-based chain that's constantly the subject of turf wars. It's coming to Houston, finally, according to the Chronicle, as part of The Grid, a mixed-use development at the former site of Texas Instruments in Stafford. A food hall is also planned, along with other shops, restaurants, and community gathering spaces.

Houston is saturated with burger concepts, from local businesses like Balls Out Burger and Bernie's Burger Bus to chains like the aforementioned Hopdoddy and Shake Shack. Then there's Whataburger, Texas's king of fast-food burgers, along with the usual fare that hugs our feeder roads. In-N-Out is hoping there's room here for its famously small menu (and its legendary and deep "secret" menu). That remains to be seen. But when it opens, you'll be sure we'll write something about how it stacks up against Houston's other burger joints.
