Anupama and Sunil Srivastava, formerly of Great W'Kana Café, are opening on Monday their first inner-Loop restaurant, Verandah Progressive Indian Restaurant, at 3300 Kirby Drive. It'll offer lunch and dinner to start, and brunch service will follow on Saturday and Sunday. Expect a variety of kebabs—plantain, galouti (soft minced meat), potli (in this case, meat is turned inside-out like a pouch)—plus locally grown vegetables inside a contemporary lounge and dining room with high ceilings, a chef's table (for soon-to-be-announced tasting menus), and a color palette of beaming earth tones. Verandah will be open 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 5-11 p.m. daily, and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for brunch.

Coming soon to Katy Asian Town: Eight Turn Crepe. These Japanese crepes are a little different than expected, with the pancake wrapping around the ingredients in a cone shape. Eight Turn Crepe has one location already (in Brooklyn), and flavors up there include lox, tofu edamame, and truffled egg white omelet, and banana nut chocolate, matcha stripe chocolate, and azuki berries. The grand opening of the Houston location is March 9.

The Houston Food Bank's f.r.e.s.h Young Professionals Gumbo Cook Off is now at Wicklow Heights—1027 W. 19th St.—from 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 23. Tickets are $30, and VIP passes are $100, which includes two drink tickets, reserved seating, a commemorative glass, and Mardi Gras beads and mask.

Opening in late 2018, Bisou instantly became a destination for the city elite, a place to pop corks over caviar and plates of lobster risotto. Now, its operators the Clé Group have decided there's not enough Bisou in the world. This week they announced the Clé Group Bus. The bus—a 2018 Ford F550 outfitted by Tiffany Coach Builders of California—has plush leather seats, multiple TVs, a 17-speaker sound system and laser lights. The ride will cost you at least $5,000: Get charcuterie and champagne at Bisou for a minimum spend of $2,000, and a table at another Clé Group concept (including Clé and Spire) is another minimum spend of $3,000.

Aroma's Italian Grill, based in La Porte, has just opened a second location at I-45 and FM 518 in League City.

The new Decatur Bar & Pop-Up Factory now has happy-hour specials from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Those specials: $2 off draft beers, half-off open bottles of wine by the glass, and $6 specialty cocktails, which are cool and good

A few more details trickled out about the new food hall coming to Rice Village. From the folks behind St. Roch Market in New Orleans comes Politan Row, set to open at 2445 Times Blvd. in the fall with 12 tenants. Another Politan Row will open in Chicago this spring with 12 tenants. No more details yet on who the tenants will be in Houston.
