Reef, Bryan Caswell's Gulf seafood restaurant that made a comeback earlier this year, closed after service Monday.
According to a statement, Caswell closed Reef "after a recent cardiac event ... combined with other economic factors."
Reef's closure comes just weeks after the chef shuttered El Real, his Montrose Tex-Mex concept. In the wake of that closing, a number of El Real employees voiced that they were not paid in full, though Caswell claimed a week later that all workers were compensated fully.
In the statement announcing Reef's closing, Caswell says all employees were paid through Nov. 18, and "any additional hours will be paid accordingly." Further, Clark-Cooper Concepts is offering to provide employment opportunities for Reef staffers.
Reef reopened in May after a two-year absence due to damage sustained during Hurricane Harvey.
