Soon, Houston residents can explore all the tastes of Italy right here in the Bayou City. Set to open this summer is Concura Italian Bites, a stylish new eatery with a focus on Italian tradition.
The new restaurant is owned by Jessica Biondi, an Italian fashion and design consultant. Concura, which means “with care” in Italian, has been a passion project for Biondi and has been in the works for almost a decade, as per a press release.
“I looked for the perfect space for years. You’ll see once you enter the restaurant, but the intimate atmosphere will be unique to us. From the seating arrangements to the way you can interact with the kitchen–everything. I wasn’t willing to cut corners on what some might consider small details,” Biondi said in a statement.
Biondi was raised on traditional family gatherings and cooking in Fano, a beach resort town in central Italy near San Marino, and plans to bring those same values to Houston, reciting their motto—“eat, drink and feel Italiano!”
Having worked in design, Biondi carefully curated the restaurant, down to the furniture, for a truly Italian look and feel. According to the press release, the vibrant Italian restaurant will have a sophisticated atmosphere and menu similar to what you would find tucked away in Italy.
“Think of Concura as a place you come to gather with friends. The inviting atmosphere will make you feel comfortable and right at home,” Biondi said.
Upon entering the restaurant, patrons will be greeted with dark, lime-washed walls, iconic Italian designer pieces like the Sesann sofa by Tacchini, a black and white piece by Ferdinando Scianna, and other high-end pieces.
Biondi is joined by fellow Fano native Chef Angelo Cuppone, who formerly worked at Roma, in Rice Village. Cuppone will serve as the executive chef of Concura and will incorporate a rotating chef’s menu, with influences from Italy’s Adriatic Coast.
The cozy diner will serve small and large Italian fare, with specialities like pappa al pomodoro, vitello tonnato, carbonara di pesce, and polpo e patate con olive taggiasche. Restaurant-goers will also find tartare and charcuterie made to order.
Adding to the authentic Italian theme, Concura will also feature a curated wine list that will showcase a selection of the best wines from Italy and a variety of other regions in the U.S., France, and South Africa. Complementing the wines are Italian-inspired cocktails, like The Danniz with Mezcal, pomegranate juice, lime, and rosemary; La Vita é Bella with vodka, cappelletti, raspberry, lemon, and orange; and the house Gin & Tonic with Gin Mare, rosemary, sage, and lemon peel.
Concura Italian Bites, 4340 Westheimer Rd. #150, will open this summer. More info at concurahouston.com.
