The Houston Zoo has some hoppy news coming this fall. 'Brew at the Zoo' is making a comeback this year bringing in popular Texas breweries for beer-lovers to try, all while supporting efforts to protect local wildlife from extinction.
“The Zoo manages breeding and reintroduction programs for the Houston toad and Attwater’s prairie chicken, which contributes to increasing their populations in the wild,” said Houston Zoo public relations manager, Jessica Reyes.
When you make ticket purchases for this after-hours event, funds will be set aside to save an animal's life. “Visits also help save sea turtles in Galveston by supporting life-saving medical treatment the Zoo provides for stranded and injured wild sea turtles found on the upper Texas coast," Reyes continues.
The event, reserved for those 21 and up, is perfect for an evening date night or a friend's night out. Animal-lovers can sample craft beers from over five different breweries including Houston favorites like Saint Arnold Brewing Company’s Comeback Witbier or Karbach’s Rodeo Clown IPA. Guest will experience a unique way of drinking, eliminating the warm beer blues and upgrading to a mug made completely out of solid ice.
Not a fan of drinking beer? No problem. Animal supporters are still encouraged to purchase a ticket for lesser cost, while still being able to enjoy other activities the Houston Zoo has to offer.
Brew at the Zoo will host a live band by the historic reflection pool and a DJ in the lone star game room. Come dressed prepared for photos as there will be photo ops, caricature artists, and games around the city's most beloved attraction.
Tickets are already on sale and the event is scheduled to take place rain or shine on September 24 from 6 - 10 p.m.
