Crawfish Cafe offers Cajun-style crawdads, plus lemon pepper, garlic butter, and Thai basil.

A number of new restaurants are now open in the area around 11th Street and Shepherd Drive in the Heights. Look for Crawfish Cafe, the second location of an Asia Town restaurant that offers year-round crawfish, and the new location of Pho Ben, a popular casual Vietnamese restaurant with two locations in Sugar Land. Plus, while Blackbird Izakaya is no more, its owner, Delicious Concepts' Ken Bridge, has launched the newest concept for its former space, called Robot Noodle.

Robot Noodle offers customers the option to create their own noodle bowls. For now, sides of egg rolls and edamame are also available. All can be ordered on Delicious Concepts' Roovy app; Ritual, Millie's, and Pink's Pizza are among the other eateries listed on the app.

Coterie, the Downtown all-day cafe and French-inspired bistro, is no more. In an Instagram post written September 22, co-owner Sean Marshall (owner of coffee roaster Fusion Beans) thanked customers and hinted that the shuttering was because of a combination of factors ("Covid, poor economics, and a bundle of other unforeseeable ails"). Coterie opened in November 2018 and underwent changes after its first few months, bringing in former Presidio chef/owner Adam Dorris. Culture Map first reported the closing.

Chris Williams, chef-owner of Lucille's, will be taking part in the James Beard Foundation's Taste America event set for 7 p.m. October 18. For this year's event, chefs in 20 cities across America will host virtual three-course dinners with wine and whiskey. Williams will be making roasted Cornish hen with sweet peas and rice grits, plus an appetizer of gumbo z'herbes and croissant bread pudding for dessert. An alternate vegan entrée and appetizer are also available.

Ticket holders will be asked to pick up their meal, pre-made by Williams, at Lucille's the day of the event. Some re-heating or finishing might be required before enjoying at the start of the event. Tickets are $150
