Yes, Harris County Appraisal District might describe the current condition of the home as “very poor,” but can you imagine what a big budget and a design team could do to this red-brick chateau on a prime half-acre lot on one of Houston’s most well-known roads? 

The 1929 home is currently for sale for $2.7 million by Martha Turner Sotheby’s. Agent Liz Daniels says that the interior of the home has been taken down to the studs. It’s a blank slate—albeit a messy one—for a potential buyer with deep pockets. 

Still, the property has ample space. At more than 5,000 square feet, the home was previously configured with four bedrooms and four full baths, plus two half-baths and living quarters above a two-car garage. It was renovated in the ‘70s, according to HCAD, though it’s unclear if signs of that job would be visible today.

It appears roof repairs are in order, and some major landscaping, too. Still with giant windows, fireplaces, a stellar locale, and overall French-inspired charm, one thing’s for certain: a little bit of vision would go a long way at this less-than-humble abode.
