A Galleria Penthouse with All the Views

Get a taste of the Uptown life, with a private elevator to get there.

When Houston real estate developer Gerald Hines was dreaming up the Galleria in 1969, he famously said, “A shopping center it is not. It will be a new downtown.” He wasn’t wrong. Hines has since been credited with creating a prototype for the mixed-use shopping mall—with a skating rink, no less—as well as giving Post Oak Boulevard its luxe makeover. Many developers followed his lead in the decades after, including the Randall Davis Company, who’s responsible for several high-rise developments around the city such as the Astoria, which went up on Post Oak in 2014.

The Astoria, which boasts an Art Deco–inspired exterior and 28 stories, has been exclusive from the start, with only 75 units and 10 penthouses. This particular listing on the 26th floor is currently the only penthouse for sale in the building, and has a 9,503-square-foot floor plan, floor-to-ceiling windows, and city views for days. At $5.9 million, it aims to be the fifth most expensive penthouse ever sold in Houston history.

A private elevator leads directly into the flowing open living spaces, with capped-in windows at every turn, and there’s access to a private covered balcony for getting even closer to the downtown skyline. The dining room is tucked onto a raised platform for differentiation in the open plan, with a sleek kitchen close at hand. There, find Eggersmann cabinetry topped in quartz counters, an extra-long prep island and breakfast bar, Miele appliances, and a wine cooler.

Down a window-lined hall, there are four bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths rounding out the plan, all with large windows and high ceilings. The spacious primary suite veers especially luxe with its marble-clad soaking tub, walk-in shower, and vanities on opposite walls.

This penthouse includes two parking spaces in the complex, as well as a dedicated media room for when it’s time to chill. And of course, the building comes complete with full-service amenities like a social lounge, infinity pool, state-of-the-art gym, valet, and 24/7 concierge.

These days, the Galleria offers 2.4 million square feet of stores and restaurants to explore. With a location like this so close by, after all that promenading and people-watching, you’ll need the downtime this penthouse promises.
