The storms have passed, the sun is out, and Blanket Bingo is back on tonight.

Blanket Bingo starts tonight at 6 p.m.

Heat and humidity notwithstanding, Houstonians don't like being cooped up in the house too long. With this latest batch of thunderstorms now on its way out of town, tonight is shaping up to have the sort of perfect, cool, mid-spring, post-rain weather that demands to be enjoyed. As it so happens, downtown's Market Square Park had to postpone last week's regularly scheduled Blanket Bingo evening thanks to the Tax Day Floods, but tonight it's back on—and just at the right time.

Blanket Bingo kicks off tonight in Market Square Park at 301 Milam at 6 p.m., when cards go on sale. Your $10 admission gets you 9 game cards, with additional cards and daubers offered for $1 each. Bingo itself starts at 7 p.m., but you'll want to get there earlier than that to find a spot and set up. The ground will most certainly be wet tonight, which means you'll need to bring a tarp or plastic sheet along with your blanket; folding lawn chairs are also an option.

What can't you bring? Your own booze, though you can purchase it—along with an assortment of gyros and baklava—at the Niko Niko's kiosk inside the park. A Fistful of Soul will be spinning tunes all night long, but you'll want to be listening for those bingo numbers: past prizes for the games have included gift certificates to a variety of downtown bars and restaurants, overnight stays at the Hotel Icon and a private Buffalo Bayou cruise for 21 of your closest friends.
