Changing seasons call for a change in colors

By Rachel Foster May 22, 2013

Hello, COLOR!

Probably the most exciting thing about changing seasons is switching up the color palette. Spring and summer means it’s time to pull out the vivid, bright colors — corals, pastels, even neons are hot this season.  Below I reviewed a few beauty goodies I’ve picked up this month.

L’Oreal Colour Riche Trend Setter nail polishI have to admit I drooled over L’Oreal’s Colour Riche nail polish collection. The color selection is gorgeous. I narrowed mine down to three, but eventually

decided on “Jet Set to Paris,” “Not a Cloud in the Sky” (see pic left) and “He Red My Mind.” Only $4.99 a bottle. My collection has only begun...

Be a Bombshell blush (Raspberry Tart): I discovered the brand "Be a Bombshell" through my Ipsy subscription. Every month Ipsy sends me four or five beauty products in a new Glam Bag. A recent Glam Bag inspired me to purchase this blush in the shade “Raspberry Tart.” I do appreciate the warm, bronzing tone on my cheeks, but I would prefer more of a matte finish vs. shimmer.  So, my blush search continues.  Be a Bombshell also sent along a free eye shadow.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (Greed)UD’s primer potion is a favorite for so many (including mine), but I decided to try their “Greed” shade when it was on sale for $10 on UD’s site. “Greed” has a yellow-gold finish, which blends well with the neutral eye palette I wear daily.

It also gives the gold and bronze shadows more pop (see pic right).  But my verdict is that the original primer potion continues to win. The original compliments every shade and has a smoother distribution over the lid.

L’Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Eyeliner: Been anxious to try this after my fellow blogging partner Jennifer, and other bloggers, raved about it. I currently use MAC’s Penultimate Eyeliner, which I’ve really favored. I think it’s comparable with this felt tip eyeliner, but I’m still getting used to it. They both are great for drawing a precise line, especially when you want to create the cat-eye look. The L’Oreal eyeliner is about $10 cheaper than the MAC eyeliner.  Drug store cosmetics are stepping up their game all around and giving the high-end brands a run for their money!

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter: If you haven’t heard the Revlon Lip Butter hype by now, you might be living under a rock (pic below).

This “buttery balm” came out last year and continues to fly off the shelves! It’s a moisturizing lipstick in a variety of fun colors with yummy names.  My two favorite “flavors” are “Peach Parfait” and “Lollipop” –the peach is a great neutral color if you have you have lot of color going on around your eyes. “Lollipop” is a fun spring/summer color. I want to try “Pink Lemonade” and  “Berry Smoothie” next–they just sound delicious.
