Is BH Cosmetics for Real?

Our makeup junkie decides to see for herself.

Lately, the makeup blogosphere can't stop chattering about online makeup retailer BH Cosmetics and their—allegedly—great deals. I was somewhat skeptical and wary of spending money on beauty products that might turn out to be poor quality, but when I saw their new summer palettes on sale, I decided to pounce. I threw a few more items into my cart along the way.

BH Malibu Eyeshadow & Blush Palette ($9 on sale)/ BH San Francisco Eyeshadow & Blush Palette ($11): First of all, their California-themed summer palettes come in cute packaging. I’m digging the trendy color scheme in the Malibu palette.

The yellow-gold, the aqua, and bright green eyeshadows – gorgeous! I like blending the aqua with the green and lining my lower lid. It gives a nice summery pop to my otherwise neutral daily eye look. The San Francisco palette offers cooler, more sophisticated tones, which I’ll probably shelve for more use in the fall. Both try to embody California's varying vibes—classic, chilly NorCal and sunny, beach-lovin’ SoCal. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the quality and bargains.

Bronzing powder -Tahitian Tan ($11): I used up the last of my MAC bronzing powder over a year ago and never replaced it.

Instead of shelling out another $24 I decided to see what BH had to offer. When I opened the "Tahitian Tan" compact case it was a bit darker than I expected, but I’m satisfied with the natural look and tone it gives my face. Best of all, there's no shimmer! I’m on an anti-shimmer kick right now (in case you were wondering).

Automatic eyebrow pencil - dark brunette ($3.50): I’m a little disappointed by this particular eyebrow pencil.

It has nothing to do with the price or quality, but I can’t seem to find a shade that agrees with my brow color. I tried this pencil a few times, but my brows come out too dark for my taste.

10 pcs Eco Brush set ($16 on sale): If you’re a makeup junkie like me, you already know that you can never have too many brushes. To complete my BH Cosmetics purchase, I picked up this Eco Brush set. I was specifically interested in the new powder brush as well as the blending and smudge brushes.  The brushes are soft, good quality and incredibly affordable, and that goes for the sets and the individual brushes.
