Jubliee is the kind of shop that you could go in one October day to buy a birthday gift for a friend and end up walking out with three skull fascinators, a new spooky table runner, and maybe a spider brooch or two.

It’s like some sort of magical Halloween wonderland where creepy accoutrements like sparkly skull rings mingle with classy wares like gothic-style candlesticks—all conspiring against your wallet to win a trip to your home. Whether you’re looking to deck your digs with all the trimmings of the macabre holiday or just don’t want to look like a slacker at your office costume happy hour, this Heights boutique prides itself on its vast selection of quick costumes and uncommon home decor.

325 W. 19th St.

Marie Chavez, manager, says Jubilee focuses on having something to accommodate everyone, stocking items that appeal to people look for a more traditional look and items that have a little more pop. Among the shops best sellers are grab-and-go costumes, like light-up sunglasses shaped like bats or, their top item this year, fascinators. The shop carries hundreds of these Halloween headpieces, some of which look like gigantic spiders (eek!), while others are of the more tame pumpkin or witch hat variety. Prices range from $12 to over $30.

One tip Marie has for those looking to score some Halloween loot: shop early.

“I have customers that call in the summer and ask when we’ll be putting out our Halloween items,” Chavez said. “They want to get their hands on the first items we put out and have the first pick.”
