What to Wear There: Sundown at The Grove

Much happier than your average weekday happy hour.

By Katie McNew August 6, 2014

Have you heard about Sundown at The Grove? It’s kind of the perfect Houston weekday event. Every Wednesday from now through September 17, lucky ticket-holders will get to sample a flight of beer from a featured craft brewery. Tonight, that brewery is critical darling and craft beer favorite Firestone Walker. The beer flight is presented with “unique food pairings” created by The Grove’s sous chef team, with direction from chef de cuisine Ryan Williams. Basically, Sundown at The Grove is exactly the kind of event that makes a person love living in a big, big city.

One caveat: Space is limited, and tickets, which are only $15 (!), are available for purchase upon arrival only. No calling in advance to reserve a spot. And, from what I hear, the line can be long and tickets almost always sell out. You’ll want to get there early, probably before the 5:30 p.m. opening time.

So, let’s recap: beer flight plus great food plus prime downtown location. What’s not to love?

Now that your plans for this evening are set, let’s move on to more important things, like what you’ll wear.

I’m in love with high-waisted everything. Well, except those super-short booty shorts, but that’s another blog. I am especially in love with this high-waisted African-print skirt. It’s flowy, it’ll showcase a small waist (or create one, if that’s what you need), and, let’s face it, it’s really fun. Pair it with a cropped top. You can go sleeveless or not, patterned or not, flowy or not. All will look great. Then throw on some bangles, a pair of cute sandals, and your shades, and you’re all set.
