Joggers Are Running Things

These ain’t your old gym pants.

I thought it would be hard to start a pants revolution, because there is only so much you can do with a pair of pants, but it looks like I was wrong.

Rewind to a few seasons ago when everyone was wearing skinny jeans—not a pair of joggers in sight. Now it seems everywhere you look there are so many options—not just in fleece, but also chino cotton, denim, and leather. They are not even limited to t-shirt looks, depending on the fabrication you can wear them blazers or a nice buttoned shirt.

Los Angeles native and design legend Rick Owens gets credit as the one who introduced us to the harem drop-crotch sweatpants with the narrow-bonded leg opening. His luxury-meets-grunge point of view has ushered in a new normal—even athletic companies like Nike and Under Armour are hip to the slimmer sweatpants trend, which just looks a lot nicer than its prehistoric predecessor.

All there is left to do is for you to try it out. I must admit that I love wearing a nice pair of joggers with a plaid shirt and some nice high top sneakers for a casual and effortless look. A nice pair of rugged boots, a cable-knit sweater, and an overcoat have been seen on me a lot lately for these frigid winter months.
