There are the kind of menswear stores that post endless shots of well-suited, dapper dudes on their Instagram feeds. And then there is the kind of store that posts pictures of vintage cars, scenic views—usually as seen from the inside of a tent—and Willie Nelson alongside the occasional shot of some sneakers or a sleek watch face.

Stag Provisions, open since 2009 in Austin's South Congress district, is the latter type of place and it wears its Austin-ness on its sleeve despite expanding to Dallas and Venice, Cal., in 2014. And, as of later this month, to Houston too. This week Stag Provisions officially announced on Facebook that they are opening a Houston store, a 3,500-square-foot space in the former Buffalo Hardware location across from West Ave in Upper Kirby/River Oaks that's set to debut on May 22.

"We’ve had Houston on our mind for some time now and were really just waiting for the right location to become available,” said Steve Shuck, co-founder of STAG, via press release. “When we heard about the old Buffalo Hardware space at Kirby and Westheimer opening up, we knew we had our spot."

Shuck and company plan to leave the storefront design alone as well as uncover the building's original 1940s terrazo floors.

Houston shoppers can expect an eclectic mix of contemporary and vintage goods with an emphasis on craftsmanship and design, a vision of contemporary masculinary that would cover both Parks and Rec's Ron Swanson and Schmidt from New Girl. Think apothecary lines, flasks, barware, American-made denim, leather goods, sunglasses and pocket squares, including goods from Ralph Lauren RRL, Red Wing, Jack Spade, Filson, Gitman Bros. and Houston's own Hamilton Shirts.
