Certainly there are plenty of J.J. Watt fans in Houston who will buy whatever he's selling, whether it's a Ford truck, H-E-B ice cream or electricity from Reliant. But will they buy shirts from Dallas?
Watt's latest gig—when he's not sacking quarterbacks—is as brand ambassador for Dallas-based Mizzen + Main. The idea behind the brand was to create a line of dress shirts for men that could eliminate unsightly sweat stains. Using performance technology pioneered by athletic brands like Under Armour and Nike, Mizzen + Main shirts fit like a glove, wick moisture away from the body, stretch to move with you and never require a trip to the dry cleaners. They also come in sizes up to XX-Large, or as they call it, "tight-end size."
That is to say, even if they didn't have Watt's seal of approval, this is a brand that Houston men who wear nice shirts but also sweat (that's most of you, right?) will want to know about. Dress shirts are $125 each, and Mizzen + Main also offers a smaller selection of tees, polo shorts and henleys that start at $30. In Houston they are available at Norton Ditto or at mizzenandmain.com.
