At just 5'9", Charles James II doesn't have the kind of physical attributes you usually see from cornerbacks in the NFL. What he has instead is passion, personality and a love for the game, which is what Texans fans fell in love with in 2015 during the team's stint on Hard Knocks.
James has so much personality it comes through everywhere—even on his socks, which he wears pulled up almost to his knees, the better to show their inevitably bold colors and patterns. His Facebook fan page name is Charles "Sock Game" James II. This is a guy who has found a niche in the growing arena of athletic style and is taking it to the limit.
Now James has launched his own line, Deuce Designs, featuring hats designed in collaboration with New Era and socks produced with For Bare Feet. The line of six hats and six matching socks is available for sale starting today exclusively at the Go Texan store inside NRG Stadium.
"I just love how everything turned out. I'm especially excited about the purple hat and socks that I was able to come out with ... I did that mainly for the females, to get them involved and let them know I didn't forget about them," said James in a press conference on Wednesday, backed up by fellow Texans A.J. Bouye, Andre Hal and Robert Nelson modeling Deuce Design hats.
He pointed to a black leather cap with a white brim that he was wearing as his absolute favorite piece from the collection: "This is the one I'm going to sport anywhere, everywhere, any event, wherever; whether I'm out, whether I'm not out, when I'm in, when I'm asleep, anything, I'm sporting it."
