How do you know people are truly committed to getting their shop on? Well, when the power at Silver Street Studios went out on Saturday afternoon for 20 minutes in the middle of Houstonia's Summer Pop-Up Shop, almost no one headed towards the exits. (The driving rain may have been a factor there too.) Instead, people broke out their phone flashlights and kept on spending.
The second-annual event drew over 3,200 shoppers, with its promise of 98 curated vendors as well as an array of tasty beverages from sponsors Tullamore DEW Irish Whiskey, Reyka Vodka, Hendrick's Gin, Flor de Cana Rum and Holler Beer. And benefitting charity Magpies & Peacocks took home nearly $2,300 for its efforts to inspire local designers to create sustainable fashion.
