7 Trends We're Leaving Behind in 2017

Sorry, but we're officially ready to kiss chokers goodbye.

As we approach 2018, prepare to be bombarded with what you should have bought, tried, seen, read, or otherwise not existed without this past year. Retrospective FOMO got you down? Have no fear, as we're here to help you be thankful you didn't try some 2017 trends. And if you did? Well, we’re sorry, but this is now officially so last year.

Yes it appears as though chokers made a comeback this past spring. Whether it’s an actual, designated choker or the old "hey, let me tie a piece of ribbon around my neck"-variety, this trend (along with the next entry on our list) has found itself on many must die in 2018 lists–and we concur.

Millennial Pink

So, what exactly is millennial pink, you ask? According to Glamour’s explanation, think of the here-there-and-everywhere shade as a dusty blush lacking blue undertones. To be honest, it sort of takes us back to Julia Roberts' “signature color” in Steel Magnolias, and it sure isn’t an easy pink to pull off unless you’re Malibu Barbie. Here’s to hoping Pantone’s new color of the year takes over from here.

Eyebrows that Don’t Look Like Eyebrows

People. End this. Right now. That's all we have to say.

Faux Freckles

We actually had to a double take on this one. Yes, fake freckles are a thing: The Today Show even did a how-to.  People are actually spending money on kits to recreate clusters of these naturally occurring skin spots on their faces. Remember when Jan Brady used lemon to try and get rid of hers? Clearly, we've done a 180. Freckles or no, if you’ve got ‘em, love 'em, and if you don’t, they just weren’t meant to be.

Bomber Jackets

Originally hailed as the “new peacoat of 2017,” this trend has been done and overdone, everywhere from high fashion to Target, in every color, print, and material known to man. So, it’s not that we don’t like them–I have two–it’s just...been there, done that, and time to move on.

Body Contouring

We covered face contouring on last year's list, and thankfully that's on its way out. Sadly, this overly chiseled, ridiculously layered look has moved below the neck. Besides the insane amount of time this look takes, let’s be honest, do you really want your body to rub off on everything it touches? If you need to have some color on your limbs, just go for some old school Jergen’s Daily Glow and be done with it.

Male Rompers

Listen, guys, we get it. Women have rompers, so why can’t you? Because they look ridiculous. We blame "RompHim," along with the rest of the world, for its Kickstarter campaign earlier this year. Be honest, dear readers, do you actually know any men who have–or can–successfully pull of this trend outside the protective confines of their home? No? That’s okay; neither do we. We're not sure this was ever really even a trend, but just in case ... bye, Felicia.
