Kukui nut and grapeseed oils repair damaged, fragile, and frizzy hair.

Houston weather has been all over the map lately. In this past month, we've had tank top days and snow days, and the current forecast of cold, rainy days and nights is, well, yuck. All of these weather changes can wreak havoc on your locks, so here are five of the best hair masks (four single-use and one multi-use) for under $5 to help get your mane in tip-top shape for the New Year.

1. Shea Moisture Mask in Kukui Nut & Grapeseed Oils, $3.49

Shea Moisture has a few single-use masks on the market, but we like this one for its restorative effects on fragile and frizz-riddled hair. The vitamin-rich formula also contains olive leaf extract, shea butter, and avocado oils. Safe for all types of hair and sulfate-free, this delicious smelling mask will leave your locks looking and feeling better after just one use.

2. Hask Argan Oil Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment, $2.99

You can usually find Hask products at your local CVS, Walgreens, or Ulta. The brand offers a few hair mask options, typically all priced around $2.99. This one, formulated with Argan oil, is our favorite. Free of sulfates, gluten, and any artificial colors, it’s a great quick fix for over-processed, chemically treated hair.

3. Palmer's Coconut Oil Deep Conditioning Protein Pack, $1.95

Known for its cocoa butter line, Palmer's has been breaking into the coconut-at-large business as of late, and this hair mask delivers by restoring dry, brittle hair with pure coconut milk. Palmer's can be found at most drugstores and is frequently on sale at Target. Pro tip: Pick up some coconut oil body lotion from this brand while you're at it.

4. Nexxus New York Salon Care Vitall 8-in-1 Coconut & Protein Complex Rejuvenating Masque, $2.69

This single-use hair mask in Nexxus' Target line out-performs the rest. Made of a rich blend of coconut oil, soybean oil, and keratin, this formula works on normal to fine hair and expertly undoes all the damage you and Mother Nature have imposed on your locks.

5. Aussie 3-Minute Miracle Moist, 99 cents and up

Remember when Aussie used to be so popular? Well, this product still comes through in a pinch–and in three minutes flat. The old-school combination of jojoba oil, aloe, and sea kelp still works wonders, and at an average price of $3.99-$4.99 at most drugstores, you can get a lot of use out of this little bottle.
