Miron Crosby's High Fashion Cowboy Boots Make Houston Debut

When it comes to the Houston vs. Dallas debate, we're obviously firmly on Anderson Cooper's side. That said, we can still recognize good boots when we see them, and we see them in Dallas-based Miron Crosby. The luxury line is beloved in West Texas, created there just last June by local sisters Lizzie Means Duplantis and Sarah Means and sold in a namesake boutique in Highland Park Village. Now, to bring this full circle, Miron Crosby is available here in Houston.

The artisanal boots, which come in a variety of customizable styles and colors for men, women, and children, are now sold at the 29° North boutique inside The Post Oak Hotel, the new uptown luxury accommodations.
From Maida's to Pinto Ranch to Tejas Custom Boots, Houstonians have historically had plenty of options from which to source their footwear, but we can't deny our excitement over a women-owned brand's success in the market that is, by nature, a bit of a good old boy's club. Emerging young entrepreneurs, the Means sisters were inspired by childhood on their family's West Texas cattle ranch and time spent living and working in New York City; Lizzie is mom to three young children and Sarah is in law school at Texas Tech.

The bespoke boot brand is named for the sisters' grandfather, Marion Otis Means, and a pasture on their family ranch as well as a favorite street in Manhattan's SoHo. Identifying a marketplace void for cutting-edge, fashionable boots–a modern take on the time-honored tradition and iconic American silhouette–the sisters launched Miron Crosby, which has quickly earned fans for its intricate stitching, exotic leathers, and unexpected embellishments. The Means keep it all in the family by tapping cousins Rios by Mercedes, a 160-year-old Texas manufacturer, for hand-lasting.
In Houston, 29° North shoppers can find boots in various styles and heights; our favorite, though, is the Paty, a playful midi boot that's nearly as green as it is brown, embroidered and appliquéd with prickly pear and saguaro cacti and rosebud pink floating starbursts on the shaft, heel, and pull tabs. It retails for $1,750.
