Heartmade Art Market

Heights Home & Garden Tour

When: Saturday, April 7–Sunday, April 8; noon–6 p.m.
Where: The Heights; day-of tickets and shuttle available at Houston Heights Fire Station, 107 W 12th St.
What: Though it's touted as "a glimpse through cherished windows," the beloved spring tour actually offers more than that, giving spectators a rare look inside five homes (and gardens) of the historic Heights neighborhood, from a 1920s Queen Anne bungalow to a renovated 4,000-square-foot Mission Revival. Tickets: $20 in advance; $25 day-of.

Featured designer: Vivi Nguyen-Robertson Vivi Nguyen and Christopher Robertson designed this spatially dramatic, yet subdued, house in response to its trapezoid-shaped lot, located at the curve of a street in the Ranch Estates subdivision. They positioned a pair of rectangular bars parallel to the side lot lines, producing the sensation of volumetric convergence visible from the street but enabling the house to expand as it recedes into its site.
