We've all been there: You're going about your business when an innocent glance at the calendar sends your heart racing. It's Mother's Day, already? You cannot, under any circumstances, show up empty-handed on May 13, and though you may be cutting it close, you can still do better than a mad dash to Target. Deutsch & Deutsch Trunk Show

Where: Deutsch & Deutsch Houston, 3747 Westheimer Rd.
What: Representatives from three designers–Armenta, Lauren K, and Temple St. Clair–will be in-store to present their new jewelry and discuss the exclusive designs. Armenta's pieces are inspired by famous works of art throughout Spain; Temple St. Clair uses rare colored gems and distinctive gold work to conjure earth and the cosmos; and Lauren K specializes in bohemian-chic jewelry.

Mother's Day at Bayou Bend
When: Sunday, May 13; 1–5 p.m.
Where: Bayou Bend, 6003 Memorial Dr.
What: Explore Bayou Bend's gardens and mansion; before, enjoy live music from harpist Hope Cowan and a complimentary cookie and glass of lemonade on the terrace. Visit the newly reopened Bayou Bend Shop in the historic cottage and receive 20 percent off the item of your choice. Free admission for mothers, grandmothers, and children age 9 and under.
