Rice Village 3rd Annual Sing-Off

When: Friday, Dec. 13; 6–8 p.m.
Where: University Blvd., Rice Village
What: As we know, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear, and Rice Village District will do just that with the return of its celebrated holiday a cappella competition. This year's third annual sing-off pits four Houston-based groups—Rice University Philharmonics, Grandmas’ Boyfriends, Rice Apollos, and Space City Sound—against each other for two rounds of upbeat holiday-themed songs plus a special holiday set scored on song choice, choreography, and vocal performance by celeb judges (and emcees) The Suffers. The winners will then light the district's Christmas tree and receive a donation to their group. Free; RSVP suggested.

Silent Disco: Ugly Sweater Edition

When: Friday, Dec. 13; 10 p.m.–2 a.m.
Where: 40 Below (beneath Revention Center)
What: Take your obligatory ugly sweater party to the next level with this underground silent disco (you know, the dance party where everyone's wearing headphones) at 40 below (40 steps below Revention Center; just use the main entrance) featuring six live DJs—DJ Shante, DJ Mr. Rogers, DJ 4.0, DJ Nfinite, DJ Multiface, and Coaches—spinning hip hop, dance, Latin, pop, top 40, and more all night. Plus holiday drinks to keep you on your toes. 21+; 2-for-1 tickets at $7.50 each, and—it goes without saying—ugly sweater and holiday attire strongly encouraged.

Holly Jolly HIIT Classes

When: Saturday, Dec. 14; 9 & 10 a.m.
Where: Tough Mudder Bootcamp Sawyer Heights, 1901 Taylor St., Suite I
What: Time to burn off all those Christmas cookies—fo free. Tough Mudder Bootcamp invites all community members to these two morning classes—bring unwrapped gifts for Toys for Tots—featuring their signature, high-intensity group workouts with a festive twist. Santa Squats and Jingle Bell Slams don't sound so bad, right? Register for your sweat sesh online—9 a.m. or 10 a.m. slots available.

Holiday Fit Games

When: Saturday, Dec. 14; 10 a.m.–noon
Where: Downtown Club at the Met
What: Merry #Fitmas continues with these family-friendly, fun-filled games for all ages and skill levels. Bring a partner—$10 per team, or bring a new and unwrapped toy—and join in on the festive games, which conclude with well-deserved cookies and hot cocoa. Email [email protected] to RSVP.

Dressember Holiday Shopping Event

When: Saturday, Dec. 14; noon–4 p.m.
Where: Forth + Nomad, 731 Yale St.

Lights in the Heights

Merry Montrose Mingle

When: Sunday, Dec. 15; 1–5 p.m.
Where: Cutloose Hair parking lot, 1711 Westheimer
What: Celebrate the holidays the Montrose way—aka with tacos, local beer, live music, a "Bad Santa" photobooth, and more than 15 local vendors—at this first annual pop-up from the folks behind the edgy Westheimer salon Cutloose, which means it's sure to be a good time (with lots of very good hair).
