The new Kendra Scott location in Highland Village.

One of Houston’s favorite boutiques has done it again. After planting their H-town roots in Rice Village in 2012, Austin-based Kendra Scott recently waved goodbye to their original location on Times Boulevard to build a new 1800-square-foot home in the heart of Highland Village. We got an exclusive peek of the new location’s grand opening.

The team at Highland Village kicked off their grand opening celebration on Monday by presenting a check of $59,094.43 to MD Anderson, where founder Scott’s stepfather was treated for cancer. Kendra Scott field marketing and philanthropy manager Robin LaLone explains this is one of the ways their team has been helping the community during COVID-19. “In a time where it’s easy to say, ‘I’m sorry but…’ Kendra says, ‘Give me 30 days,’” says LaLone.

Between opening a new location, creating a collection in partnership with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo that gives 20 percent of proceeds back to the HLSR Education Fund, and raising nearly $120,000 for Memorial Hermann and MD Anderson from curbside pickup sales alone, Kendra Scott is raising the bar for what it means to be there for our community in times of crisis. “We’re just so happy to show everyone that Kendra has the same heart that built this brand,” LaLone says.

On top of hustling to help the community, the Kendra Scott team has also been dedicated to opening a store unlike any other location in Houston. As you step into the bright, open space—complete with walls of jewels and rose gold furnishings—you’re met with the only Kendra Scott engraving machine in Houston. Whether you’re looking to get your anniversary date printed on a necklace or want your name engraved on a bracelet, you can walk in with an idea and walk out with custom-made sterling silver or 18k gold vermeil in under an hour.

Looking to celebrate with your bridesmaids or craft matching jewelry for the family? You can book a reservation for you and five guests to experience custom jewelry designing under their 250-square-foot Color Bar. Pick from their variety of party packages, and you and your guests will sit around their design table, enjoy treats and drinks, and craft tailor-made jewelry pieces. “A seven-year-old little girl, her older sister going to prom, mom, grandma, mother-in-law—there’s something for everyone, and they get to create it themselves,” says LaLone. Oh, and if you have a bride or a birthday in the group, make sure to let them know so they can get their exclusive gift. Coincidentally, they have a wrapping room that will really make your purchase look like a Christmas present.

If you turn around at the checkout, you’ll notice an entire wall of penciled sketches and design ideas behind you. Upon closer inspection, this isn’t generic wallpaper, but illustrations of original Kendra Scott designs being born. So, next time you purchase jewelry at Kendra Scott Highland Village, you may just see the blueprints of the piece you’re leaving with displayed right there on the wall.
