For the first time in 17 years, Tootsies and Women of Wardrobe hosted the annual Summer Soirée as a live virtual event. The haute scene was attended by 120-plus Zoomers on the evening of August 20. They watched and sipped on a drink courtesy of their own personal bar as Tootsies Creative Director Fady Armanious interviewed local designers Christy Lynn and Claudia Lobao. The designers shared their inspiration, journey in the fashion industry, and upcoming fashion trends, and they gave viewers an inside look at their fall collections on display at Tootsies.

For those who missed it, here is what you need to know about Houston's fall fashion: "Earrings are the new lipstick," says Lobao, referring to face masks shifting the focus up. The jewelry designer uses lightweight metals to combine chic and cool with her pieces. Lynn is all for flowy dresses, animal prints, and versatile clothing pieces without waistlines to customize for yourself this season. She uses organic, breathable fabrics perfect for Houston weather.

As an in-person continuation to the virtual event, guests were invited to Tootsies August 21–22 to shop the new styles and take home swag bags filled with goodies from Nothing Bundt Cakes, PMD Beauty, Cherry, W&P, Pixi Beauty, Cocktail Kits 2 Go, Cherry, Asrani Group, Popbands, and Lucky Cat Beauty. Tootsies donated 10 percent of the sales from those two days, raising more than $6,500 for the women of Dress for Success Houston.

On the scene were WOW President Courtney Campo, Tootsies chair Karishma Asrani, KHOU anchor Mia Gradney, Dress for Success Houston President Lauren Levicki Courville, WOW President-elect Julia Russell, Reliant Community Relations director Leanne Schneider, Natalie Ariz, Diana Mosenge, Marianna Corcoran, Sarika Patel, Rebecca Gentry, Emily Robinson, and Crystal Embury.

Thank you to event sponsors and supporters, including Tootsies; Camden, Sydney and Jeff Shellebarger; Sandy and Keith Oden; Christine LaFollette; and Dobrowski, Larkin, & Stafford, LLP.
