As The Heights continues to expand inTO becoming Houston’s hottest hideaway, Texas jewelry and accessories staple Kendra Scott is the latest brand to move into the neighborhood. The newfound location serves as the company’s 8th and largest store in the state.

“It's very on brand for us,” Kendra Scott CEO Tom Nolan tells Houstonia, regarding its new Heights Mercantile Center home. “We love tying ourselves into the local community as best that we can, and it feels like we have an opportunity to really do that here in a way that we don't in every market. The interesting thing about this city being such a bigger urban sprawl, every little community, whether it's Baybrook or here, it's so unique and different.”

Inside the 1,330 sq ft retail store, shoppers will experience Kendra Scott through intricate displays surrounded by the signature yellow hue, and as the holiday’s peek around the corner, the store is filled with graceful garland decor for a merry atmosphere. Four unique offerings specifically to The Heights location are a larger collection of the Fine and Demi Jewelry, a Sterling Silver Color Bar with interactive stone trays and custom engraving on-site, exclusive to the Sterling Silver Collection.

“We've learned a lot over the years of how people like to shop at our stores and one thing that's been very clear and very loud is that they like customization,” details Nolan.

“We're unique in the sense that in the jewelry space, we're one of the few that allows the highest level of interaction. Giving somebody a piece of jewelry is a very intimate thing, it's nice to have a memory, and I think with what this store allows us to do through our Sterling silver, and our fine jewelry components outside of our normal color bar, is it allows people to customize something, whether it's a wedding or birth of a child, or a birthday or anniversary. I think this store allows us to do that in a way that we haven't been able to before.”

Among the newest attributes, Kendra Scott has launched a men’s collection, which features a wide array of necklaces, bracelets and rings. Nolan also shared a fun fact: a few of the company’s employees including himself, got to model the latest collection. Although Nolan admits it was a bit embarrassing, it reveals the brand's authenticity and connection to its clientele.

“I don't really like seeing pictures of myself, but it was very cool for me. Working at a women's jewelry company, I was never able to experience the brand personally. So working with the Scott brothers, Beck and Cade, I was really a part of it coming to life. The other thing that we've done, along the store, we also have our female employees in a lot of the model shots as well. The brand really means something to all of us that work there.” Nolan explains.

A colorful mural of a cute cowboy boot that reads, “There’s no place like Houston” awaiting endless selfies on Instagram, can be seen on the outside of the new location. The must-see artwork not only pays homage to the ultimate Houston footwear, but also resembles the brand’s commitment to its local partnerships. Following their partnerships with MD Anderson, NASA and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Kendra Scott has now joined with The Houston Astros Foundation. To celebrate, Nolan threw the first pitch at the game against Tampa Bay and announced the new store location.

“The Astros have been an amazing partner and I love what they do with their foundation. I mean, as you know, here in Houston, we've been partners with MD Anderson since the beginning. We've kind of caught the Astros also at a really great time winning a couple of World Series, going to the one this year. Unfortunate outcome, but they've been an awesome partner. Their whole marketing team has been great and have allowed us to really bring our brand to life, and I love that we can give back to their foundation and help the local community as we always have.”

With the grand opening of the new store, Nolan hopes to establish Kendra Scott in it’s new district, while listening to its shoppers to improve their shopping experience.

“The broader Houston community is the thing I'm always excited about when we open up a new store. I'm preaching the gospel -- so to speak -- about what we do as a company, because it's not just about buying jewelry, it's about hopefully changing lives and helping local communities, and those who need it. Hopefully we can do that here in a different, more powerful way than we've done in the past,” says Nolan.
